Empire’s Antique Jewel

When in Empire, The Misers’ Hoard is a MUST. A recently expanded collection of old and new antiques and artisan goods, the Misers’ Hoard has a little bit of something for everyone.

Every time I’m in Empire I make it a point to stop in and have a look around. The hoard itself is located in an old three story homestead adding to the eclectic and engaging atmosphere of the shop itself. Paul and Heidi Skinner own the Misers’ Hoard. They both live above and work in the shop and are always there to welcome you with a smile and friendly hello.

So like I previously stated, they sell a mix of anything and everything. I could spend hours in the shop. The front porch offers a more antique vibe with a bunch of random things laid and placed about.

The inside, on the other hand, appeals more to the artisan shopper. You can find everything from locally made jewelry, wall pieces, dinnerware, pottery, and so much more!

Last time I visited I picked up the haul below including a painted canvas print of Michigan complete with unique little landmarks, some sterling silver turquoise earrings, an anklet that donates proceeds to women in third world countries, and a cute little asparagus festival sticker. Find out more about the Empire Asparagus Festival here. 🙂

The following pictures are just some snaps I took while browsing the collection and a cheeky little snap of myself in a random corner of the shop.

So next time you’re cruising up or down the coast along M22 or spending some time in Empire itself, make a pit stop at the Misers’ Hoard, say hello to Paul and Heidi, and pick up some unique finds!

If you’re new to this blog and unfamiliar with Empire, Michigan, I covered Empire and everything else the little beach town has to offer in a separate blogpost here.
